A cool vintage Teisco made in Japan in the 1960s, this fully hollow guitar combines two single-coil pickups with a vibrato and the distinctive construction and styling that made Japanese guitars of this period so interesting. Teisco was particularly adventurous during the early and mid-'60s, experimenting with unusual body shapes, pickup configurations, switching systems and vibrato designs rather than simply copying established American instruments.

The two single coils have that unmistakable vintage-'60s sound: bright, jangly and full of sparkle, with plenty of attack. The fully hollow construction adds some acoustic character to the response, making the guitar particularly good for clean and lightly driven sounds.

It is also really nice to play. This example is light, stable and comfortable, making it more than just a cool vintage studio instrument. It is perfectly usable as a gigging guitar, and the combination of low weight, simple controls and lively pickups makes it a genuine secret weapon when you want something that sounds and feels different from the usual vintage guitars.

An affordable piece of Japanese guitar history, and a particularly fun instrument for anyone interested in the unusual side of the 1960s Japanese guitar industry.
