This is the holy grail of vintage Squiers: the made in Japan E-Series from the mid 80s. Essentially, these are rebranded Fenders, with Fender parts. Those were made in Japan while Fender was restructuring its USA production. When that was done, the name Fender moved back to the US, and the guitars that were still left were called Squier by Fender.
This Contemporary Stratocaster modifies the traditional Strat recipe with Fender's own locking Vibrato unit (the System 1 Tremolo Bridge, made by Schaller), for all your acrobatics. The rest of the guitar is traditional, with three great sounding single coils. As you'd expect, the build quality is great, and it's fantastic to play.
Condition: near mint, just really minimal traces of use, exceptionally clean for its 40 years of age. Fully original, but missing the vibrato back plate.
