The Comanche is a pretty rare beast. This is Leo Fender's last version of his stratocaster design, and it looks wild. That is mainly due to the cool Z-coil pickups. They function in the same way as a Precision Bass pickup: a split single coil that cancels out hum without losing the single coil clarity. This is a thoroughly modern strat guitar: the Z-coils have extended lows and highs, and the controls are a best-of of strat mods. You get passive bass and treble controls (which allow you to dial in more vintage tones too), and a switch to give you two extra sounds (neck+bridge pickup, as well as all pickups on). Combine that with a snappy ash body and really pleasant maple neck, and you have a guitar that is extremely nice to play and fits in almost any musical context.
